Ahhh… you can hear the birds chirping, the scent of mown grass, and the feeling of sunlight pouring through your living room window- it’s finally spring! In celebration of the new season, we wanted to share how we refresh our spaces by adding mid-century modern touches with the help of our friends at AllModern.
AllModern: How are you feeling as the season changes and spring returns? What kind of mindset are you in currently and how is that reflected (or not yet!) in your space?
Alexa & Elizabeth: We are feeling excited to get outside more! We always love gardening once it starts to warm up. We are also incorporating more natural elements into our decor! Everything is blooming and so lush in the spring and summer, and we love for that new growth and life to be reflected in our home decor. This time of year is so fun for us because it spurs us to organize and refresh our spaces with new finds.
AllModern: Mid-Century modern design is known for its neutral tones with pops of color and personality. What personally are you excited about this spring- what gives you that extra burst of energy and joy in the day?
Alexa & Elizabeth: We are so excited to finally be moved into the new homes we just built! We’ve been building our homes for over a year now and it’s surreal to finally be living in them. They are totally different from both of the homes we each lived in before, so it’s been so fun to design differently for them. We are definitely finding joy in dreaming up new projects for each space. It’s been a time of renewed creativity and inspiration for us!
AllModern: How are you inviting freshness into your home this spring- clean bedding, potted plants, new curtains?
Alexa & Elizabeth: All of the above! We love to incorporate new plants and refreshed bedding. There’s something about brining new life into the home, and the feeling of a crisp bed is just unmatched. Also, adding new rugs in each space can give them a whole new feel! Swapping out rugs is our favorite way to keep spaces fresh.
AllModern: Mid-Century modern design focuses on supporting eye-catching “hero pieces” with cleaner, more natural accents. Any new statement pieces for your space that you’re excited about?
Alexa & Elizabeth: Yes!! We are loving our new sofas – they have such clean lines and really make a statement in our living rooms. We also both added eye catching gold mantle mirrors to our spaces that draw the eye upward as soon as you walk into the room. We really wanted our living rooms to feel grand and the mirrors contribute in large part to that vibe!
