Ok by now we’re sure you’ve seen the adorable Anthropologie Santa mat popping up all over Pinterest and Instagram! It’s super cute but already sold out. We wanted a festive door mat for the holidays but also wanted it to match our color palette so we decided to create our own! Read on for links to what we used to create our own DIY Anthropologie Santa door mat.
Here’s how we did it: we found THIS adorable Santa mat from Michael’s for just $13! It already has such a cute design which made our lives easier!
The next step was to simply paint over the Michael’s mat following the lines of the design:
And that’s it!! Such a fun and easy project to do with any door mat! It’s especially fun for Christmas. We think this door mat turned out so festive and now it goes with the front door & our whole color palette too!

Super cute! What type of paint works best for this application? Did you seal it with anything afterwards?
Thank you! Acrylic paint works great! We even used a little latex wall paint we had left over from another project and it worked well too. We didn’t seal it because our doorway is covered and we’re not too worried about it holding up for the season but you could probably apply a clear coat seal and it might make it a little more durable!
