IKEA TARVA Hack: Transforming a Piece of Stock Furniture into an Upscale Modern Boho Dresser!

How adorable is this dresser??! We love how it turned out! We started with the IKEA TARVA and transformed it into this dreamy, upscale boho dresser with a little paint, stain, and new knobs! We love how you can make this dresser into practically anything you want it to be. It really makes such a huge statement in Elizabeth’s bedroom now! Scroll down to see the process and links to all products used!

This is how the IKEA TARVA comes right out of the box!

First we stained the bottom piece of the dresser plus the legs in a natural color. We used Puritan Pine from Minwax!

Next, we taped up the bottom so that paint didn’t bleed onto the stained portion and painted the rest of the dresser in a glossy white! We chose Ultra Pure White from BEHR and used small foam rollers to apply it all over (this way you avoid brush strokes and get a super clean finish).

Once we were finished painting and everything had dried, we opted to use different knobs than what came with the dresser. We found these super cute modern gold knobs on Amazon!

And that was it!! Super simple and easy, but the difference is huge! What IKEA hacks have you tried?? We can’t wait to take on the next one!
